I have got people to write down different things- words, paragraphs etc relating to their experiences of the modern world/2011 and put them in a bottle, which I then photographed. This would then be thrown into the sea as most other messages in bottles are.

Messages in Bottles

I am thinking of asking people to write their final messages on scrolls of paper and putting them into bottles. Also, I am thinking of putting objects/photographs/messages into bottles chosen by different people.

My Shots

I desaturated the images, as I wanted to convey an eerie atmosphere. Also, this highlights the point I want to make which is without people, the world is a very bland place. The photographs are quite banal and uninteresting as there is nothing happening in them and I used everyday locations that normally have people there. I feel that this illustrates my point well, however I'm not sure if they could work as stand alone images without an explanation.

Shoot edits

This is a first attempt at a CCTV control centre style of presentation. I think it works well, but I would need to blend the images in better if it was to be a success.

This was a quick attempt at using a computer screen as a CCTV viewing screen. I would have to blend the edges if I were to use this technique.

I have met and spoken to this photographer at the Hereford Photography Festival, which gave me a clearer idea of his intentions when he takes photographs. I like the documentary photography elements to his work.
